I have completed my internship in one of the many Islamic centres. The Oakland Islamic center was in need of a supervisor assistant to help out during the Sunday school program. As a supervisor assistant, i took part in many different tasks. One of the main tasks I had to do was to teach the Islamic tradition and the Arabic language to a class of 25 students under the age of 10. The second task that I had to complete was providing food during lunch break for many students, I made a variety of foods from nachos to homemade pizza. An addition to that task I was also overseeing the many students at the Islamic center before school and after school to resolve conflicts and bring unity upon all. The skills that I learned or gained during my internship are countless, patient and leadership were the most common skills that I gained, dealing with kids and especially during school time needed from me a lot of patience. I remember one time when the supervisor left the school for an unknown reason, and I was in charge of a hundred plus learners. This was very stressful as there were only two teachers alongside me at the time, I had many tasks to do, I was running all over the place, I ran to office to check up if anyone there was in need of assistance than I would run back to teach the children who had no teacher for the day.In addition to that, I also set some time to provide assistance for the teachers, students, and staffs.

An obstacle that I experienced was trying to attend the location at a reasonable time before staff and students show up for class. Sunday was my only rest day of the week, Waking up early to go complete my internship was very overwhelming, but after awhile I adapted to the timing and flow of it.

My experience in the Oakland Islamic center was incredible, I had a lot of fun with the teachers there and the other staff, in addition to that the supervisor of the faculty was incredibly helpful and friendly. He always asked me that I should speak up if he put to much pressure on me.  I was put through a trial by my supervisor. At the start he allowed me to teach a small amount of students before. I was also introduced to many new faces because the Oakland Islamic center could be considered as a second home for anyone in the community, I had the opportunity to meet with many people, who have worked in different fields, Which many were willing to offer me help with my education.
